Key Projects
North Park Lake is the largest lake in Allegheny County, Pittsburgh, PA. It had filled up with sediment. The lake was drained and dredged. It took 3 years to do the work. Ecological Restoration, Inc. was hired to install biologs around the lake and plant the benches and banks with native plants. There were miles of 12? coir (coconut) biologs on this project. We worked closely with the Army Corps of Engineers, the State DEP, the County Conservation District and the prime contractor. The Agencies allowed us to use our discretion as to the plant selection and placement. Last year we supplemented this project by installing two J-Hook rock structures in the feeding stream as part of a stream restoration and planted thousands of trees and shrubs as part of a forested wetland buffer creation in the park.
